ABOUT US
MISSION
Presidio Knolls School's mission is to provide a multi-lingual, multi-cultural environment where children can freely develop their gifts and interests. Children should be the driving force behind what they learn. Instead of being led, we encourage our children to actively direct. Therefore, it is our mission to provide the necessary tools and language skills in a loving environment so that children, at an early age, are equipped to succeed in this globalizing world.
Our preschool is built upon the following goals:
- Create a joyful and loving environment in which to nurture / develop relationships and co-construct knowledge
- Encourage experiential learning, exploration, and self-expression
- Foster curiosity that inspires a lifelong passion for learning
- Develop language proficiency and cultural awareness to thrive in a globalizing world
HISTORY
Two years ago, this school only existed as a vision and, our current space was stripped to its studs. Exposed pipes stood in the place of our children’s chairs, and the rooms were filled with sawdust instead of artwork.

After three years of planning, we finally opened our school in February 2008, and what a journey it has been. We want to extend our gratitude to the dedicated and generous group of parents and teachers who joined us to create this school from virtually nothing into the high-quality, unique institution it is today. Today, our children learn and grow as they hike a mile to Crissy Field for a morning trip to discover the natural habitat of local insects, birds, fish and mammals. In the classroom, our students create self portraits, rotate in leading the classroom circle time and demonstrate teamwork as they encourage each other to work through challenging tasks. This already uniquely creative, child-driven program is even more distinguished in that these activities are all practiced in accordance with our innovative Mandarin-immersion approach.
