Mission & History
The mission of Presidio Knolls School is to provide a multilingual, multicultural environment where children can freely develop their gifts and interests. Our preschool is built upon the following goals:
- Create a joyful and loving environment in which to nurture /develop relationships and co-construct knowledge
- Encourage experiential learning, exploration, and self-expression
- Foster curiosity that inspires a lifelong passion for learning
- Develop language proficiency and cultural awareness to thrive in a global world
History
A year ago, this school only existed as a vision and our space was stripped to the studs. Sewage pipes stood in the place of our children’s chairs and the rooms were filled with sawdust instead of artwork.

After 3 years of planning, we finally opened our school in February 2008 and what a journey this first year has been. Our thanks go out to the dedicated and generous group of parents and teachers who have joined us knowing, for sure, this was going to open. Today, our children flourish as they hike a mile to Crissy Field for a morning trip to discover the natural habitat of local insects, birds, fish and mammals. In the classrooms, they create self portraits, rotate in leading the classroom circle time and demonstrate teamwork as they encourage each other to work through challenging tasks. And our children are guided through these experiences in Mandarin.
