Dr. Keisha Siriboe, a consultant who we have closely worked with since 2020, recently came to visit us on campus - for the first time! Over the past two years, she has worked closely with our faculty and staff, addressing critical topics such as diversity, representation, and social justice, and has formed a Social Justice Cohort among faculty and staff who are ready to be leaders within the school as we continue to work on these critical issues. We were so happy to engage with her and continue these conversations in person.
Dr. Keisha spent the week with teachers, staff, and even students doing work that will help us live out the inclusive and supportive desires of our mission. She worked with teachers and together they discussed the significance of diverse teaching materials and representation in curriculum. She held the first in person Social Justice Cohort meeting with faculty and staff, allowing for face to face vulnerability and growth. She met with parents and joined a Parent Association DEI Committee meeting. She also met with the student council and learned more about PKS from a student lens.
While she was visiting, Dr. Keisha also made time to sit down with Chris for a special interview series that explores exactly how Dr. Keisha became "Dr. Keisha." Watch the videos below, or visit the blog post here, to delve into the personal background of Dr. Keisha and her work at PKS. You will even learn how she chose PKS to be the one independent school she would work with!
As a school and community, we continue to value and prioritize DEI in all aspects of our school, from admissions to lesson planning. We appreciate your shared dedication, and are grateful to have Dr. Keisha with us as we continue to address difficult topics and grow into the best version of PKS that we can be.
